Obituary

MADISON - Douglas N. Coats, age 51, passed away on Jan. 7, 2024, at his home in Fond du Lac, Wis., after a two-year battle with cancer.


Douglas was a lifetime resident of Madison before moving to Fond du Lac in 2023. He made friends easily, had a great sense of humor, and was a Packers fan. Douglas was looking forward to the Packers making the play offs in 2024. He also enjoyed music and playing his guitar.


Douglas is survived by his father and mother, Robert and Roberta Coats; sister, Jonette; and nieces, Rachelle and Camila. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael on Dec. 5, 2021.


A memorial service will be held in Victor, Iowa, where he will be buried in Coats Family Cemetery in late May 2024.

Roberta, I was saddened to learn of both the passing of Michael two years ago, and now Douglas. I think of you often, as I walk on W Branford almost daily. While I only got to know Douglas for a short while, it was always one of the best days when he was there. Always made smile.

Doug is my cousin and I cannot tell you just how heartbroken I am for both my Aunt Roberta and Uncle Bob. I too have lost a child and there is no greater pain in the world. Rest easy cousin and fly high 🪽🤍
