Obituary

MADISON - Linda Louise (Ball) Oimoen, age 73, of Madison, passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 5, 2024, at St. Mary's Hospital of unexpected heart failure after a three-year battle on dialysis.

She was born on March 7, 1950, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Lyvian and Betty (Nelson) Ball. Linda graduated from Dubuque High School and then continued her education. In her forties, she took on the challenge of returning to school for massage. Her dedication and commitment were a testament of her true strength and capability. This strength not only got her through school, but got her through life, raising her children and grandchildren, offering love and support to friends and family and being there through good and bad. Her final test of true strength was her fight to live and willingness to take on dialysis. Her beauty, style, and elegance were seen in her smile, appearance, home and thoughtfulness. Linda’s faith and reliance in God grew stronger in her last three years of life. The peace she had brings comfort knowing she was not afraid and was ready to rest with God.

Linda built many strong relationships with her clients and co-workers when she worked at JCPenney. Many of them followed her after she retired in 2012. She did not stop at retirement; she took on a new adventure and obtained her managerial license and with several co-workers followed together to open their own station. She ended her long-term career, doing what she loved, at the assisted living facility.

Linda enjoyed traveling, playing cards and BINGO, and she blessed many people with her interest of crochet. She lived a passionate and adventurous life going on vacation, skydiving and swimming with dolphins. She also loved to meet people. Linda got to know nurses, doctors, dialysis techs and anyone that she met.

Most of all she loved her family. She was blessed with a loving family that always came together for holidays, birthdays, and other occasions. Linda loved to cook for her family and get-togethers. She could whip something up in a matter of minutes. She had a way with decorating and making events extra special.

Linda is survived by her son, Scott (Heather) Bumpke; daughter, Tonya Bumpke; grandchildren, LeTia Bumpke, Sabrina (Jesse) Musgrove, Faith Bumpke, Gavin Bumpke, Alivia Bumpke and Elijah Bumpke; great-grandchildren, Gabriyal Bumpke and Lily Musgrove; siblings, Connie Granberg, Vicki (Steve) Mason, Dan (Brenda) Ball and Julie (Bruce) Lindauer; and many nieces, nephews and family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lyvian and Betty; brother, Lindell Ball; and nephew, Denny Mason.

A memorial service will be held at TWO STEEPLES PARISH - WEST BLUE MOUNDS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2962 Church St., Blue Mounds, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, with Jim Ranney presiding.
