Obituary
BLUE MOUNDS - Kim Cherie Busch, age 51, of Blue Mounds, Wis., passed away on Friday, Jan. 5, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones at St. Mary's Hospital after a valiant battle against cancer. She was born on March 5, 1972, in Geneva Township, Wis., the daughter of James and Cherie (Warnecke) Hoehnke.
Kim grew up in Delavan, Wis., and graduated from Delavan High School in 1990. Love and friendship came easy when she met Chad Busch and subsequently married him a year later on July 8, 1995, in Madison, Wis. Her daughters, Alexandrea and Samantha, were born shortly after to complete their loving family unit.
Kim started her working career as a cosmetologist, then did in-home childcare when her daughters were young. When they were older, she went to work at Anchor Bank in Fitchburg, but afterwards found her niche when she went to work for Dean, now SSM Health, where she worked for 18 years as a registered medical assistant in the Neurology Clinic.
Kim never allowed for a dull moment when spending time with family. She made sure to fill family time with gardening, working on home projects, crafting, and other joyful holiday activities. All of Kim’s friends and coworkers loved watching her travel with her family where she made sure to see the sights and find beautiful places to hike. Over the years she became Chad’s photography assistant, with the occasional smartphone “SELFIE!” when the time was right. Those closest to her could rely on her helping hand and caring heart when they needed it most.
Kim was kind, brave, and a strong fighter until the very end. Her departure will leave a deep wound felt by her entire family and large network of friends. “. . . My mind still talks to you and my heart still looks for you, but my soul knows you are at peace.”
Kim is survived by her husband, William “Chad” Busch; her daughters, Alex (Marshall) Matthies and Samantha Busch (Shamshad Dergai); father, James Hoehnke; brother, Tim (Tina) Hoehnke; sister-in-law, Shelley Busch; nephews, Shawn and Keven McCarron; brothers-in-law, Todd and Josh Regan; and countless other loving relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Cherie Hoehnke; uncle, Bruce Warnecke; aunt, Gloria Warnecke; father-in-law, Bill Busch; and mother-in-law, Gail (Steve) Regan.
A celebration of life will be held at OLBRICH BOTANICAL GARDENS, 3330 Atwood Ave., Madison, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, with spoken memories being shared starting at 11:30 a.m.
