Obituary
MADISON - Theresa Heraldina (Blakley) Weisensel, age 91, of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024. She was born on Aug. 6, 1932, in Sun Prairie, the daughter of Anton and Hilda (Ruffice) Renz.
Theresa graduated from Sun Prairie High School in 1950. She enjoyed being a homemaker and loved living in Cottage Grove, and on the farm near Columbus.
Theresa enjoyed gardening, taking long walks and traveling the world. Some of her favorite destinations were China, Hawaii, Alaska and Australia. At age 60, she obtained her driver’s license, giving her a newfound freedom. Theresa lit up in the presence of her great-grandchildren and she loved spending time with her family.
Theresa is survived by her children, Patricia (William) Theel, Gary (Mary) Blakley, Debra Sauer, Joyce Blakley, Katie (Joseph) Gosda, Robert (Theresa) Blakley and Randy (Heidi) Blakley; stepchildren, Patricia (Gloyd) McKay, Colleen Schroeder, Kevin (Nancy) Weisensel, Melanie (Gary) Dynes, Candy (Bob) Heyroth, Clayton (Teresa) Weisensel, Lisa (Tim) Jansen, Gidget (Darin) Bavery, Tina (Bruce) Weber and Lori Corser; step daughter-in-law, Peggy Weisensel; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Marty Renz and Maggie Purcell; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Renz. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Hilda; husbands, Robert Blakley and Joseph Weisensel; son, Greg Blakley; stepson, Joseph Allen Weisensel; and siblings, Francis, Anthony and Leo Renz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2024, with Father Gary Krahenbuhl presiding. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2024, and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Dennis Catholic Church or Agrace HospiceCare.
