On one of the hottest days in summer 2023, it was terrific to run into Valerie at AtwoodFest in Madison. We listened to some great music and shared a cool drink. I’ll miss her direct expressions of opinions, and her willingness to listen and learn. Love, Laura Lenzen

Valerie was a wonderful friend of ours for many years whom we knew through First Church. She was so smart, kind, funny, and interested in a wide variety of things. We saw her perform her comedy routine at an open mic night several years ago, and she was the funniest person there. She will be dearly missed. Our condolences to her family and her many friends who love her. Carol Klukaczewski and Jim Newton

Valerie was a vibrant soul. She was so involved in life! This plus her brilliance always inspired me. She accomplished amazing things, and with an incredible personality that really shone. I remember once she had a sticker that said: "If you think the wheel is such a good invention, you should try the ramp!" I loved that she had a sparkling sense of humor. I loved to see her smile and laugh. Rest in Paradise, my friend!
