Obituary
Madison - Aleene Kerwin, age 87, of Madison, passed away on Friday, Dec. 29, 2023. She was born on Aug. 23, 1936, in Madison, the daughter of Garland and Wanda (Trappe) Maxwell.
Aleene graduated from West High School in 1954. She married Thomas Kerwin on Sept. 3, 1955, in Madison.
Aleene and Tom loved to travel the continental United States and the world. One of their favorite destinations was Hawaii. She enjoyed bowling, socializing and spending time with friends and was an outstanding cook. She served on the board of directors for the Monona Library. Aleene's legacy as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother will be held dear in the hearts of all who knew her.
Aleene is survived by her children, Tom (Jolene) Kerwin, Laura (Steve Welsch) Clement, Richard Kerwin and Daniel (Sara) Kerwin; sister, Debbie (Bob); in-laws, Yvonne (Norm), Bob, Bill, Charlie, Kay and John; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom; parents; brother, James Maxwell; brothers-in-law, James, Chick, Ernie and Jim; and sisters-in-law, Joanne, Mary Lou, Claire, Barb and Marilyn.
A celebration of life will be held at Gunderson East Funeral and Cremation Care, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 12 noon on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the celebration.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for charitable contributions. A special thank you to Agrace HospiceCare for their care and support.
