Richard Steven Johnson

DEERFIELD - Richard Steven “Rick” Johnson, age 59, of Deerfield, unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023. He was born on Dec. 1, 1964, in Madison, Wis., the son of Donald Johnson and Lorraine (Kittelson) Johnson.

Rick was a graduate of La Follette High School, class of ‘83.  He was a very dedicated and devoted worker who made sure to pass on his work ethic to his kids. He spent a lot of his career in the automotive industry, from being an insurance adjuster to being a service manager. He always made a positive impact wherever he was involved and will be dearly missed.

Rick was a spiritual person, and a member of the Ridgeway Church in Madison. He was a talented percussionist, playing the drums Sunday mornings at his Church for nearly 20 years. He was a part of their Connect Group, where he became a very close member to the community within Ridgeway. In his free time, he enjoyed hanging out with his friends, sit-down breakfasts, camping with his family, watching movies, and most of all, spending quality time with his children and grandchildren.

Rick is survived by his sons, Nickelas (Anna Garcia) Johnson and Justin (Bailee) Johnson; daughters, Ashlyn (Mason Bohn) Johnson and Maeci Johnson; grandchildren, Soren Johnson and Arlo Johnson; brothers, David (Julie) Johnson, Dan (Jackie) Johnson, Tom Johnson and Steve Johnson; his children's mother, Kelly Johnson; and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Kathleen Johnson.

A celebration of life will be held at RIDGEWAY CHURCH, 3245 E. Washington Ave., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, followed by a luncheon at the church. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the celebration of life on Saturday.
