Obituary

LODI - Richard L. “Dick” Rott, age 93, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 27, 2026. Born on August 5, 1933, the son of the late Leo and Esther (Good) Rott, Richard grew up with a strong foundation of family values that guided his life journey.

He attended the Plum Valley one-room schoolhouse through the 8th grade and later graduated from Wonewoc High School in 1951.  Dick went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. While in college, he was a member of the Army ROTC. Richard then proudly served his country at the U. S. Army Surgical Hospital in Fort Knox, Ky., completing his military service in 1958.

Dick owned and operated Dick’s Pharmacy in Lodi, where his commitment to community health and well-being touched many lives. Dick was deeply involved in numerous community civic organizations including the Lodi Jaycees and Lodi Rotary Clubs.  He served on the Lodi Volunteer Fire Department and was instrumental in starting the Lodi Ambulance service. He was also a faithful member of the Lodi United Methodist Church.  An avid outdoorsman, he embraced the beauty of nature and enjoyed countless adventures in the great outdoors. He also earned his pilot’s license and was an amateur photographer who loved capturing life’s precious moments and scenes through his lens.

Dick was most proud of his family and often boasted about his 12 children.  His first marriage to Barbara Jo (White) brought him four beautiful children.  After Barbara’s untimely passing, he married Evelyn (Ravey) and adopted her three children.  His last (and longest) marriage to Linda (Cable) gained him five additional children to love.  Dick was fondly referred to by his loving family as “Papa D.”

Dick is survived by his children, Cy Rott, Karen (Jack) Drew, Joe (Gracie) Rott, Leisa (Mark) Heimbecker, Amy (Terry) Larson, Nick (Mary) Cable, Lonna (Matthew) Zeman, Russ (Barb—deceased, special friend Christine LeGore) Cable, Marcy (Brian) Koenig and Alisha (Tony) Hahn. He also leaves behind 25 grandchildren—Cheri, Chelsea, Richard, Jared, David, Abigail, Joseph Jr., Clint, Getasew, Carly, Bob, Andy, Jeff, Dave, Ryan, Dakota, Cassie, Ben, Logan, Kenzie, Natalie, Sammi, Anna, Dylan, and Katie—and over 35 great-grandchildren; and siblings Don (Nancy) Rott and Marilee Sherman. He was preceded in death by his wives, Barbara Jo Rott in 1964 and Linda Jane Rott in 2025; his son, Marc Rott; his daughter, Cynthia Tatro; his daughter-in-law, Barb Cable; brothers-in-law, Phil Sherman and Hank Baltz; and sister-in-law, Joan Krebsbach.

Dick’s family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Sienna Crest in Lodi and Agrace HospiceCare for the dedicated and compassionate care provided to him in his final months and days with us.
