I’m so sorry for your loss. I took French class from Ms. Pieterick years ago in middle school. She was an excellent teacher and inspired me to continue learning French in high school. I decided to sign up as an exchange student and went to France for three weeks. I returned to her class after that trip to talk to her students. She made learning fun. Kelly Wilson

I taught French at DeForest High School and Middle School for 11 years with Trudy. She was my friend, mentor and colleague and we shared a passion for all things French. She inspired me with her dedication to giving her students a true immersion experience in the French language and culture. I will always remember the fun we had working together, developing lessons and realia to make our lessons motivating, fun and relevant to our students. I will miss her. I'm sorry for your loss. Her love for for Joe Dassin was fabulous! She used to play his records in class and it was always a treat. Appreciated her full immersive french experience in middle school!

Madame Pieterick was one of my greatest teachers and a very cool human. I remember her doing mime for our French class (tai chi, too!) and going on a weekend French Camp immersion in northern Wisconsin with her and Madame Greenlee. She was ahead of her time with her immersion-style of teaching. I think of her often. Truly a gem of a person.
