Obituary
MADISON - Sharon L. Nicholas, age 86, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023, at UW Hospital and Clinics. She was born on Oct. 31, 1937, in Shawano, the daughter of Ortis and Dorothy (Jahr) Johnson. She was united in marriage to Lloyd Griep on June 20, 1982.
Sharon graduated from Shawano High School in 1954 and later went on to Madison General Hospital School of Nursing where she graduated in 1988. She loved working as a registered nurse at the VA Hospital serving the veterans and their families.
Sharon loved nature and being outdoors. She loved flowers and animals - especially cats and dogs. She was a dedicated member of the Dane County Humane Society.
Sharon is survived by her daughters, DeAnn (David) Ludwig and Dana Kohl; grandchildren, Josh (Heather) Kohl, Kalyn Kohl, Michaela (Josh) Chapman, Jordan (Kayla) Wells, Darin Runge and Danielle Ludwig; great-grandchildren, Kendall, Adelynn, Kinsley, Emma, Haven and Eleanor; daughter-in-law, Judi Kohl; step-children, Keith (Vickie) Griep and Denise (Greg) Griep; and step-grandchildren, Amber Griep and Tyler (Alyssa) Griep. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Griep; son, David Kohl; parents, Ortis and Dorothy; and sister, Dawn Conner.
A memorial gathering GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024.
