Obituary
MADISON - Everett H. Eide, age 91, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023. He was born on Jan. 18, 1932, in Crookston, Minn., the son of Peter and Erica (Danielson) Eide.
Everett graduated from Central High School in 1950, lettering in basketball, football and golf. He attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, his freshman year where he was a member of the University Golf Team. In 1952, he enrolled at the University of Iowa, graduating in February 1955. His senior year he was the Commander of the U.S. Air Force ROTC.
On Nov. 24, 1954, Everett was married to Eunice Achenbach in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. They had four beautiful children, Linda, Peter, Erica and Kristin.
After graduation in 1955, Everett entered the U. S. Air Force, went through Flight School and combat training and received his Wings as a Fighter Pilot. He flew the F-80, the F-86, and the F-100. Part of this duty was in the 1738th Ferry Squadron. Here he was involved in the delivery of these fighter aircraft domestically, to South America and to the European continent. He left the Air Force in 1961. After service he traveled to Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin as a sales representative in the clothing industry.
Everett loved his family, enjoyed golfing, boating on the Madison Lakes, and spending most of the winter months on Siesta Key in Florida.
Everett is survived by his wife, Eunice; children, Linda (Richard) Searle, Peter (Sandy) Eide, Kristin (Todd) Eckelberg; and grandchildren, Erin Eide, Bryan Eide, Everett Eide, Erica Eckelberg and Ella Eckelberg. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Erica Eide; brothers, Willie Eide and Pat Eide; and sisters, Juel Byfield, Burdell Eide and Evelyn Eide.
A private family service will take place in the late spring.
