Obituary

LODI - Carol (Seebecker/Lawrence/Schaefer), age 80, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, in Lodi, WI. She was born on July 16, 1944, in Portage, WI, the daughter of Leo and Olive Arlene (Knuteson) Schaefer.

Carol was a graduate of Portage High School. She worked for many years at General Telephone (GTE) as a repair operator and dispatcher. She also enjoyed part-time work at a flower shop and cheese factory. With both school and work, what meant the most to her were the many good friendships she was able to have.

Carol had a variety of interests - when younger, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, crocheting, and crafts; when older, she enjoyed watching game shows and playing bingo, dominos, and puzzles. What she loved most though was spending time with family, especially time with grandkids and great-grandkids meant so much to her.

We loved all the time she was with us and will miss her very much.

Survivors include her son, Robert; daughter, Theresa (David); daughter-in-law, Phuc; grandchildren, Vanessa (Jorge), Sophia, Anne, and Tommy; great-grandchildren, Kira, Maya, and Jorge Jr; sister, Mary (David) and brother, Don.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Gregory; and brothers, Bill and Jim.

A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024, at 1:00 pm.  Burial will follow at 2:45 pm at Silver Lake Cemetery, Portage, WI.

I am so sorry for your loss. I was able to spend time with her on her final day playing bingo (winning a purple unicorn) and having supper with her at Dove. Debra Anklam/Jack Fitzgerald

Carol was a strong woman and endured many difficulties throughout her life, but she always managed to be positive about the outcomes. Her smile and laugh were contagious. She just made you want to be a better YOU! One thing I do know about Carol, she accepted and loved all her children, grand-children and great-grand children and their spouses very much! She will be missed by all who knew and loved her!!!

I have been blessed to have Carol for a dear friend for around 40 years. A good amount of those years we lived far from each other, but we kept up the friendship via telephone and postal mail. We met while we worked at the phone company. She was a beautiful person inside and out. Her laugh was absolutely delightful. I will never forget her. Her love for her 3 "kids" was always evident in her conversation and actions. My condolences to Teri, Rob, and the rest of her family.
