Madison - Robert Lee “Bob” Castleberg, age 93, of Madison, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023, at Skaalen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Bob was born on July 15, 1930, in Durand, WI, the son of Lutzie and Ruth (Gibson) Castleberg.

Bob graduated from Durand High School in 1948 and attended UW-Madison, earning his Bachelor of Science and served in the U.S. Army in Korea. Bob was very well respected in his “coin flip” chosen profession and worked as a Realtor with Stark Company Realtors from 1955 and was a Top Producing Real Estate Agent, until his retirement.  He was a CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member), President of the Realtors Association of South-Central Wisconsin, and the Foundation at Trinity Lutheran Church, and was also a founding member of the Madison Area Apartment Association. Bob was a junior member and secretary of the Madison Area Chamber of Commerce, remained active in his church.

Bob was a longtime supporter and attendee of Badger football, he remained active in UW alumni circles, and loved going to the Rose Bowl.  He was an avid bowler and bowled in a league for many years at Casino Lanes. He enjoyed getting out on the lakes around Madison in his boat. Everyone knew Grandpa Bob” at the Little League fields and basketball courts, as he was a strong supporter of youth sports. Bob loved a good joke, chocolate, his family, friends and actively gave back to his community.

Bob is survived by his children, Michael Van Brunt, Steven (Sharon) Castleberg, Cynthia (Richard) Mancini, Suzanne Castleberg, Sheila (Denis) Kalish, Pam Castleberg Weidemann and Eric (Letisia) Castleberg; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Curtis (Kathy) Castleberg. He was preceded in death his parents; grandson, Christopher; brothers, Bernard and Roger; sister, Cleo; son-in-law, Wade; daughter-in-law, Ellen; and sisters-in-law, Kathleen and Darlene.

A funeral service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1904 Winnebago St., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023, with the Rev. Andy Twiton presiding. Burial will be held at Cascade Cemetery, Nelson, WI. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Skaalen Nursing and Rehabilitation and Agrace HospiceCare for all of the wonderful care and support given to Bob. The family also wishes to thank friends and family for their outpouring of support and love.
