Obituary

On Dec. 7, 2023, Rosemary (Kastner) Buglass joined her "forever" person, Bill, in the halls of heaven, to continue their journey together.


Mom was born April 16, 1928, to Albert and Julia Kastner in Mauston, Wis.


Mom attended Madonna School and High School, graduating in a class of six. Bill invited her to prom via a letter for their first date, and that began the start of their journey together. They were married on Sept. 5, 1949, and were together for 68 years, until Bill's death in 2017. She then waited to be with him again.


Mom's priority was always family, whom she loved with all her heart. She is survived by her three sons, William Gardiner (Tracy), James Albert (Barb) and Robert Kastner (Candace); grandchildren, Thomas (Raechel), Amanda (Dan) McKee, Jessica (Khris), Ashley (Chad) Johnson and John (Megan); great-grandchildren, Beau, Gus and Josie (children of Ashley and Chad), Cael (son of Jessie), Ernie, Elanor, and Sully (children of John and Megan), Reed (son of Amanda and Dan) and Taylor and Tori (daughters of Tom); and sisters, Katherine Brown and Bernice Petrowitz.


She was preceded in death by her grandson, Billy Burt; and sisters, Francis, Minnie, Dorothy and Elaine.


Mother's love knew no bounds. What a great example to follow.


At Mom's request, there will be no service.


A celebration of life in Rosemary’s memory will be held at TOBY’S SUPPER CLUB, 3717 S. Dutchmill Road, Madison, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, 2024.

Such pain at the death of our loved ones, but much comfort in our memories of them. Aunt Rosie was the most kind and loving. I always felt like I was special when with her. I remember so many times with her but especially my last visit when I visited her when I was home taking care of Ma before her death just a little over a year ago. Dear Billy, Jimmy and Bobby I am so saddened for you and your families, to learn of the passing of your dear Mother. I was so astounded, pleased and proud when Bill and Rosemary included so much special time with me, during their Philadelphia visit a few years ago. Your Mom was so endearing, enduring and vital! 60 years seemed to evaporate over lunch and I was 10/12 years old again! I was so deeply moved as I sensed my love for her - and for you three brothers - instantly revived. I am so profoundly grateful for that lovely visit; it shall remain in my heart always. As will you three. I am also so grateful to realize Rosemary enjoyed such a long and wonderfully happy life, thanks to you and your families and your wonderful Father. Elaine and I are sending you our sincere sympathies, our deepest condolences and all our love. I will always remember Rosemary and William as the bedrock foundation of our neighborhood. May their dear memory always be a blessing for us all. And Bless You, Boys.
