Obituary

MONONA - Bernard "Bernie" Lemkuil, 82, of Monona, went home to be with His Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023. He was peaceful and surrounded by 20 of his family as he passed to Heaven.


Bernie worked his entire career at Oscar Meyer and retired as Director of Corporate Engineering.  


Bernie had a servant heart in leadership as a deacon and other roles at Crossroads Church. He also loved being a member of Gideons International. His love for the Lord, his family and his friends were his priorities.  His joy filled spirit and positive attitude touched people's hearts.


Bernie is survived by his wife, Bette; sons, Mike (Gwen), Tim (Amy) and Andrew (Amy); daughter, Lori Beth (John) Severson; brothers, Bob (Barb) Lemkuil and Bill (Sue) Lemkuil; sisters-in-law, Joyce Lemkuil and Peggy Sue Lemkuil; and 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert and Adrianna; brothers, Jim Lemkuil and Evert Lemkuil; and sister-in-law, Ruth Lemkuil.


A memorial service will be held at CROSSROADS CHURCH, 3815 Dutch Mill Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023. A visitation will be held at the church on Friday, Dec. 15, 2023, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and also from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.


Memorials may be gifted in Bernie's name to Crossroads Church or Gideons International.
