In Loving Memory of Guadalupe “Lupe” Rosas Jr.

MADISON- Guadalupe “Lupe” Rosas Jr., age 83, passed away on Friday, Nov 24, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer. Surrounded by his family and loved ones, Lupe peacefully left this world, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion.

He was born on July 6, 1940, in San Antonio, Texas, the son of Guadalupe and Olivia (Espinoza) Rosas. His family moved to the Endeavor/Briggsville area of Wisconsin where he began his journey working on a potato and onion farm. It was here that he developed a strong work ethic, a quality that would define him throughout his life.

After relocating to Madison, Lupe dedicated over 30 years of his life to Madison Area Technical College (MATC), contributing his skills and knowledge until his well-deserved retirement. Retirement, however, could not contain Lupe's boundless energy, and he continued to work, even in the face of his cancer diagnosis in early 2023.

Lupe was a devoted family man, and his love knew no bounds. He was always on the phone, checking in on his loved ones. Whether picking out gifts at Walmart for his beloved great-grandchildren or going above and beyond for others, Lupe found pure joy in creating special moments. He always gave the best gifts and was never one to miss a birthday, anniversary, or any significant day. He was the dependable rock in everyone's life. His infectious humor and playful teasing endeared him to all, leaving behind cherished memories of his beautiful smile and laughter.

In addition to his work and family life, Lupe found joy in playing pool and proudly cheered for the Dallas Cowboys. Whether sinking a winning shot on the pool table or passionately supporting his favorite football team, these were moments that brought him happiness and connected him to the things he loved.

Lupe Rosas was a pillar of strength, a source of unwavering support, and a beacon of joy in the lives of those fortunate enough to know him. As we mourn his passing, let us also celebrate the remarkable life of a man who lived with purpose, kindness, and an enduring love for those around him.

Guadalupe is survived by his daughters, Kim (Jasen) Ramirez and Katie Manning; grandchildren, Savanah Manning, Taylor Manning and Dominic Hillestad; great-grandchildren, Jaylie Anderson, Johannes Voeks and Quinten Easland; two brothers, Rick (Linda) Rosas and Ruben (Marilyn) Rosas; and four sisters, Sylvia (Carey) Moul, Elsa Rosas, Julie (Gregg) Kaiser and Rose Lemke. He is also survived by other relatives and friends he loved dearly.

Guadalupe was preceded in death by his parents, Guadalupe and Olivia (Espinoza) Rosas; and five brothers and a sister.
