MOUNT HOREB - LaVerne Sutter, age 97, of Mount Horeb, passed away on Friday, Nov. 24, 2023, at home surrounded by his family. He was born on June 29, 1926, to Albert and Bertha (Haag) Sutter at home in the Town of Perry.

LaVerne married the love of his life, Agnes Greenheck, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lone Rock, Wis., on Oct. 11, 1951. Besides his faith and family, LaVerne loved farming and never tired of watching the earth tilled, seeds planted and crops harvested.

He was a devoted member of St. Michael The Archangel Parish, attending Mass at both St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Mount Horeb and Holy Redeemer Church in Perry Township.

LaVerne is survived by his seven children, LaVerne "Rick" (Sue) Sutter, James "Jim" (Donna) Sutter, Michael "Mike" (Joan) Sutter, Patrick "Pat" Sutter (Debra Young), Jane (Bill Wildeman) Sutter, Robert "Bob" Sutter (Tammy Gander) and Francis "Frank" Sutter (Shannon Handley); 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Antoinette “Toni” (James) Adams, Marlene (Richard) Acker, Rose Mary Miller, Cecilia (William) Walsh, Pauline Tvedt; and sisters-in-law, Louise Sutter, Marjorie Sutter, Rosemary Sutter, Nancy Greenheck and Lynne Sutter.
