Obituary

COTTAGE GROVE - Susan Raye Grauvogl, age 52, of Cottage Grove, passed away on Monday, Nov. 13, 2023, at Meriter Hospital. She was born on Sept. 5, 1971, in Madison, the daughter of Joseph and RuthAnn (Havlik) Niedo.

Susie graduated from Monona Grove High School in 1989 and later Madison College. She married Gregory Grauvogl on Dec. 5, 2000, in a beautiful ceremony on the Caribbean island of Antigua. After working many years as a travel agent, Susie worked as a logistics manager for Ellis Company for 11 years.

Susie loved spending time with her children and especially cheering them on at their sporting events. She enjoyed watching the Packers, Badgers and Brewers, reading murder mysteries, and doing puzzles. She loved her family fiercely and fought so hard to spend every last minute with them. Though we are heartbroken, we will never forget the strength and courage she showed these last few years.

Susan is survived by her husband, Gregory; children, Brayden and Brielee Grauvogl; parents, Joseph and RuthAnn Niedo; sisters, Diana (Joseph) Nachtigal and Patricia (Jonas) Drury; father-in-law, Kenneth Grauvogl; brother-in-law, Matt (Tiffany) Grauvogl; uncle, Donald (Glenda) Havlik; close friend, Karyn Schroeder; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A celebration of life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2023. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.

We are Gordon and Jan McChesney and were very sorry to learn of Susan's passing. Gordy worked with Susan's mother, Ruth Niedo, for many years at Monona Grove High School. They shared many conversations about their families during those many years of shared work. Ruth, we hope you are doing okay at this difficult time. Blessings to you and your family.
