OREGON - Rex Dachenbach, age 69, passed away at home on Nov. 6, 2023.

Rex spent his career in the business lines insurance industry. He was an underwriter and later a trainer for several companies: American Family Insurance, Milwaukee Insurance, Capitol Indemnity and finally West Bend Mutual Insurance. Rex built his career and reputation as "the man with all the answers" along the way. He was sought after as an expert insurance witness and was published in the "Greater Madison In Business" magazine. Rex was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and previous president of the Parish Education Commission of Holy Mother of Consolation church in Oregon, Wis.

Rex enjoyed "Dad jokes," family time and an insatiable quest as a life-long learner.

Rex's proudest achievements were his children: Joe (Sandy) Bothell, Wash., Amy (Will) Portland, Tenn., and Lisa (Andrew) Madison, Wis. Rex was married for 46 happy years to his college sweetheart, JoAnn. He is survived by his wife, children and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at HOLY MOTHER OF CONSOLATION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 651 N. Main St., Oregon, at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2023. A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St., Oregon, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 20, 2023, and also at the church from 12 noon until the time of the Mass on Tuesday.

So sorry to hear of Rex's passing and your family's loss. I was a colleague of Rex's at both Capitol Indemnity and West Bend Mutual. He and I travelled together on several occasions for continuing education presentations. He was always a tough act to follow as he incorporated unusual sounds and good humor in his presentations which kept the audience attentive(presenting in the morning before lunch didn't hurt either as we are discussing insurance after all, yawn). One of my favorite memories of Rex was knowing he was in a fleet vehicle before me because the seat belt was clipped so it stayed loose(so as not to wrinkle his shirt) and the GPS was switched to a foreign language so it would alert him to a turn coming up and he wouldn't accidentally overlook it. May you rest in peace Rex and share lots of insurance knowledge and laughs with the angels above. I'll see you one day on the other side and we can sing to some Pink Floyd together. Mark Hoffmann

Rex was such a kind and caring person. I worked with him for several years and he taught me alot. His humor and knowledge of insurance and life was amazing! His talent in educating insurance agents and associates was first class. I know he loved his family very much. God bless him and his family.

My deepest condolences for your loss. Rex touched so many lives. His easy going attitude and helpful nature will be missed by so many. I loved his insight and expert knowledge of the industry he dedicated his professional life to. I had the pleasure of working with Rex for several years before his retirement and his absolute favorite topic to discuss was his children and grandchildren. He shared stories and pictures often. I will always remember him for being the best of the best. Rest in peace my friend

It’s been decades since my path crossed Rex’s and yet I remember long explanations to ensure my understanding of insurance concepts with some ASL. I haven’t forgotten any of it. His drive to make me ‘understand’ drives much of what I do today.
