Obituary
Oregon - Rose Marie C. Stuvetraa, age 93, passed away peacefully at BeeHive Assisted Living & Memory Care in Oregon, Wis., on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. She was born in Monroe, Wis., on July 8, 1933, the daughter of John and Marie Reusser.
Rose grew up on her family's farm near Monroe and graduated from Monroe High School in 1951. She married Ernest R. Naef in 1952 and had three children. During those years, she worked at Frito Lay and as an aide at St. Claire Hospital. She also loved spending evenings dancing at Turner Hall, where she made many treasured memories.
After moving to Madison, Wis., Rose married Donald Stuvetraa in 1968. She built a long and successful career as a bookkeeper for Osborne Brick Company and Conserve Products, retiring at the age of 70.
Rose was a devoted fan of the Badgers and Packers and was a proud member of the Madison Packer Backers. She and her best friend, Dolly Jenkins, went on cruises, traveled to Branson, Hawaii, Alaska, Switzerland and saw President Clinton in a ceremony in Washington, D.C. The two of them took line dancing and Polka lessons and they loved to dance and have fun (cause trouble) wherever they went, especially at the VFW. She was on several bowling teams and received numerous medals in the Senior Olympics.
Rose was a longtime member of the VFW Post 7591 Auxiliary Color Guard and enjoyed marching in numerous parades, which often came in first place at state competitions. She was the Treasurer at the VFW for numerous years and was also a member of the Cooties, where she did hospital work at the VA Hospital. She volunteered at Agrace and the VA Hospital. While living at Rolling Meadows in Oregon, she organized and sent greeting cards to residents, bringing smiles and comfort to many before moving to BeeHive Assisted Living in 2021.
Above all, Rose's family and friends were her world. She looked forward to family cabin trips up north, loved watching her great-grandchildren grow, and never passed up a chance to enjoy some ice cream. She had a generous heart, always ready with a helping hand, a kind word or a warm smile. Her wonderful sense of humor, compassion, and genuine love for others will be remembered by all who knew her.
Rose is survived by her children, Terry (Andrea) Naef and Sandra (Ken) Starch; grandchildren, Allison (Eric) Heggelund, Tara (Aaron) Potter, Ron Naef and April Naef; nine great-grandchildren; nephews; and special niece, Pat Yeagle. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ernest and Donald; son, Ronald Naef Sr.; parents, John and Marie; her sisters, Elsie Kaster and Pearl Timm; and special friend, Franzwa.
There will be a Celebration of Life at Gunderson Oregon Funeral and Cremation Care, 1150 Park St., Oregon, on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Family and friends are welcome to stop by at any time during the gathering. At 2 p.m., a minister will offer a brief prayer service.
Memorials may be made in Rose's name to Agrace HospiceCare or the VFW Post 7591 Auxiliary Color Guard.
Rose's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff at BeeHive Assisted Living for their exceptional care and compassion they provided over the years, with a special thanks to Jesse and Brody. They also wish to thank the caring team at Agrace HospiceCare, especially Stephanie, for the kindness, comfort, and support they gave to Rose and her family.
