Rolf David Hansen

MADISON - Rolf David Hansen, age 86, of Madison, Wis., passed away on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023, at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on March 13, 1937, in Madison, the son of Orvin and Mary (Benish) Hansen.

Rolf went to Pumpkin Hollow Grade School and graduated from DeForest High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree from UW-Whitewater and was drafted and served in the U.S. Army from 1959-1961.

Rolf married Audrey Genske on April 15, 1967, in Madison. He worked as an accountant for Rayovac and Wisconsin state-assisted nursing homes, retiring after 40 years of service. Rolf was an avid Badgers and Packers fan. He loved to hunt and fish with his good friends in the Minocqua and Tomah areas. He also enjoyed camping with good friends and went to Badgers games for 70 years.

Rolf is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Audrey; several nieces and nephews and great- nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Ralph and Agnes Genske; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Cal (Carrie) Derendinger, Herb (Bernice) Elet and Robert (Blanche) Anderson.

A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 20, 2023, with Military honors to follow. A luncheon will follow at the Gunderson Café. Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday.
 

Memorials may be gifted in Rolf's name to UW Carbone Cancer Center, American Diabetes Association - Wisconsin Chapter, Alzheimer’s Association or Dane County Humane Society,
