Obituary
MADISON - Elizabeth A. “Betty” Schwartz, passed away peacefully in the kind care of Agrace HospiceCare on Friday, Oct. 27, 2023. Betty was born on Dec. 16, 1940, in Madison, the daughter of Elvin and Rosella “Sally” (Dresen) Hornbeck.
Betty graduated from Madison West High School and moved to Milwaukee where she met and married her husband, Glenn Schwartz. They were married for 56 years. Upon moving back to Madison, Betty worked in the Mathematics Copy Center in VanVleck at the UW-Madison until her retirement.
Betty was the best daughter, sister and wife anyone could ask for. She had a complete love for life and was always ready to get involved with anything family related. She loved to hike, travel, cook, bake, garden, craft, shop, go the casinos and rummage sales and her dogs, Keet, King, J.J. Dutchess and Holly.
Betty is survived by her brother, John “Sonny” (Sandra) Hornbeck; sister, Diane (Robert) Krohn; nephews, Jason Hornbeck (Wendi Covey) and their children, Stephanie, Kaleb, Noah and Kylee; Michael (Nicole) Rusche and their children, Lydia and Miles; and Matthew Rusche; niece, Jessica Schemenaur (Keith) and their children, Madison (Dakota) Thompson and their child, Tucker Thompson; and Jayden Schemenaur; aunt, Helen; and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
We will miss you Betty, but will hold dear to us all the great memories.
In keeping with Betty’s wishes, no services will be held. Our family would like to thank Agrace HospiceCare of Fitchburg for their compassionate care, UW Neurology who continually tried to help Betty live the best life possible with her Parkinson’s Disease and the special caregivers at Heritage Memory Care, Tierie, Kyiah, Nick and Gary who cared for Betty on a daily basis.
