Obituary

SUN PRAIRIE - Jeanne Jaeger Lucht, age 49, passed away on Oct. 26, 2023, at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was born on Nov. 1, 1973, to Susan and Paul Jaeger at Little Company Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park, Ill. Jeanne and her family moved to Madison, Wis., when she was 1 year old. Jeanne would grow up with her brothers, Ed and Mark Jaeger, wasting no time making friends all the way through high school where she would become a cheerleader at Madison East High School.

Jeanne later married Ken Lucht in 1999 and they were married for 20 years. Jeanne was employed for many years in the insurance industry after college and then in 2001 gave birth to a son, Colin Lucht.

Jeanne loved being with her family, traveling, spending time on the lake, baking, reading, but most importantly spending time with the ones she was close to. She was seen by all of her family and friends as someone who was compassionate, empathetic, and one of the most caring people they have ever known. She was one to always be worried about someone else before worrying about herself, to be the person to be there for someone else regardless of what she was going through.

Jeanne took great pride in her family and the things she did with her family from trips all across the country, to making sure the whole family were able to be together on holidays. She wanted everyone to be together all the time and to enjoy the time they spent together, whether that was up at the lake or at grandmas for dinner. The only thing she ever worried about was when the next time the family would all be together again.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her father, Paul Jaeger; grandparents, Bud and Jean McCabe and Jack “John” and Marie Jaeger. Jeanne is survived by her only child, Colin Lucht; mother, Susan Jaeger; brothers, Ed (Kristine) and Mark (Chandra) Jaeger; two loving nieces, Grace and Olive Jaeger; and two wonderful nephews, Finn and Boden Jaeger.

A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, on Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023, from 10 a.m. until the start of the funeral service at 12 Noon, with Pastor Rebecca Ninke presiding. My dear friend Jeanne, I lost you too soon but I feel so blessed that you were my friend for the last 21 years. The great conversations, the times Karsten and I spent with you and Colin on over nights at your house. You were such a great hostess. Especially I remember our trip to Rinelander-great fun. I always admired your skill of taking a house and decorating it and making it a home. Lots of great memories-too many to list. I will miss your ear to listen, your shoulder to cry on, your arms to hug me. Between now and then, until we meet again-rest in peace my dear friend. Kim

Jeanne, such a great mother to Colin. You always had the best family gatherings around, and knowing how much you enjoyed them made it so much sweeter. Irie thought of you as an Aunt. Your spirit will forever be with us and our memories will be cherished. You raised a strong son in Colin, he will continue to make you proud.
