Obituary
MADISON - Kenneth R. “KC” Carpenter, age 85, passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 23, 2023, at Meriter Hospital, following a brief illness. He was born in Stoughton, Wis., on Jan. 22, 1938, to Lawrence and Helen (Julian) Carpenter.
After high school, Ken enlisted in the U.S. Army and served most of his time in Germany
which he loved to reminisce about. He was united in marriage to Pauline Lashock on Oct. 10, 1964, at St. Dennis Catholic Church. Ken worked for Mendota Mental Health for 37 years as cook, retiring in 2000.
Ken enjoyed watching and listening to his favorite teams, the Chicago Cubs, Badgers and the Green Bay Packers. He loved to help coach all sports from his recliner in the living room. He also enjoyed playing Euchre, going to the casino, and watching old westerns. He took great pride in taking care of his yard.
Ken is survived by his loving and caring wife of 59 years, Pauline; daughter, Vicki (Dean) Stout; two sons, Scott (Erin) and David (Christine Martinson); six grandchildren, Nathan, Justin, Matthew, Madison, Brooke and Aiden; and great-grandson, Logan. He is further survived by several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, many nieces, nephews and close family friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, all six of his siblings, and a nephew.
A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 3, 2023, with Deacon Tim Reilly presiding. Military rights will be accorded. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
Memorials may be gifted in Kenneth’s name to St. Bernard Catholic Church or the Goodman Community Center. The family wishes to thank the caring staff at Meriter Hospital.
