Obituary

VERONA - Dawn Louise Strain, age 74, went to sleep in Verona and woke up in Heaven on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. She was born on November 23, 1950, in Janesville, the daughter of Donald Edwardson and Janet (Schomburg) Schuld.


Dawn graduated from Edgerton High School in 1969 and that same year was united in marriage to Dan Strain. She was employed as a Head Start teacher for 20 years and later worked for Walmart. She was a lifelong seamstress, a 4-H member and a Cub Scout leader.


Dawn is survived by her husband, Dan; sons, Kurt (Jane) Strain, Kent (Tina) Strain; daughter, Kristie (Dennis) Lee; granddaughters, Rhiann (Alex Burrell) Strain, Kassie Haase, Chelsie Haase, Cierra (Garry) Strain; grandson, Harlan Strain; sisters, Cindy (Bill) Burt, Angela (Brandon) Johnson; brothers, Kevin (Dorrie) Edwardson, Steve Edwardson, Brian (Gina) Edwardson; and great-grandchildren, Talli Strain, Jaxon Strain, Jett Strain-Burrell, Sebastian Strain. Dawn is further survived my many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Janet Schuld and Donald Edwardson; and sister, Annette Edwardson.


A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON FITCHBURG FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 2950 Chapel Valley Road, Fitchburg, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2025. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12 noon until the time of the service on Saturday. Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens, at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 15, 2025.
