MCFARLAND - Nathan Michael Dotzauer, age 46, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2023, in his home.
Nathan grew up in Sun Prairie, Wis., and graduated from Sun Prairie High School in 1995. After attending UW-Eau Claire, Nate moved back to Madison where he graduated from UW-Madison with a Bachelor of Science in Computer and Electrical Engineering. Nathan spent his entire professional career at GE Healthcare as a software engineer. Through mutual friends, he met Heather Anderson, his future wife of 18 years. The two of them enjoyed golfing, bowling, volleyball, camping, and various Badgers sporting events. Nathan was always the life of the party, loving his time spent with Heather and their family and large group of friends.
Nathan married Heather on Feb. 18, 2005, in Riviera Maya, Mexico surrounded by family and friends. Next came family life, with Chaston arriving in 2007 and Korben in 2009. Nathan was a true family man as their lives shifted to kid activities like hockey, wrestling, baseball and football. He enjoyed using his creative woodworking talents for projects around the house. The family developed a love for lake life and bought a Covid boat. They enjoyed it so much that they purchased a house on Lake Waubesa. Wakeboarding and surfing consumed their summer days along with throwing bags and surrounding fire pits with friends. Their new favorite moments became watching the sunset every night together.
Nathan is survived by the love of his life, Heather; and their sons, Chaston and Korben. Other survivors include his mother, Deborah Dotzauer; three sisters, Denise (Chad) Paulson, Jessica (Jason Schmitt) Dotzauer and Angela (Steven) Day; mother-in-law, Nancy Anderson; brothers-in-law, Jason (Lorie) Anderson and Chad (Kristine) Anderson; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Jeffry Dotzauer; and his loyal basset hound, Locash.
A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2023.
