Obituary

MIDDLETON - Rodney Alan Haushalter, age 74, of Middleton, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2023. He was born on Jan. 14, 1949, in Madison, the son of Carl and Marie (Jenson) Haushalter.

Rodney graduated from LaFollette High School in 1967 and then attended Wisconsin School of Electronics. He was united in marriage to Bonnie Haushalter in 1981. He worked as a bus driver for Madison Metro, retiring in 2012.

Rodney was a member of Blackhawk Church and several model railroad groups. He enjoyed building and going to model railroad shows.

Rodney is survived by his son, Matt (Nicole) Haushalter; sister, Pat (Bob) Schulenburg; nephew, Guy (Denise) Reeve; niece, Jody (Pete) Medenwaldt; cousin, Shirley Anderson; stepsisters, Sandy Lane and Joyce Siesen; and stepbrother, Randy Wonderly. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Haushalter; his mother, Marie Haushalter; father, Carl Haushalter; and stepmother, Violet Haushalter.

A celebration of life will be held at BLACKHAWK CHURCH, 9620 Brader Way, Middleton, at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 20, 2023.

Rodney lived here at The Jefferson and adored by everyone here. He sat with his buddy Mark at meals and Mark is having a hard time missing his nice, sweet friend. Rodney played Euchre with a bunch of fun ladies here which he loved and they loved. He was a good player but dropped his cards a lot! The ladies looked out after him. Rodney's hair grew like an in a day so was in our hair salon frequently. We do miss our sweet, furry guy already!

Rod was my roommate while stationed at Hill AFB, Utah, in 1971-72. He led me to claim Jesus as my savior because I saw in him a strong faith. When we parted ways, Rod was determined to become a missionary. I drifted in my faith and we lost touch. I attempted a few years ago to reconnect with Rod because I just wanted to say thanks for the role he played in my life and leading me to the Lord. He never responded to my attempts and I was somewhat saddened. I am saddened once again to learn of his death. He was a man who dearly loved Jesus and God used him to lead me to Jesus. I will forever be grateful for Rod and I look forward to reconnecting with him in heaven. Kenny Ellison, Gold Canyon, Arizona
