Obituary
MADISON- Douglas J. “Doug” Oldenburg, age 81, of Madison, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023, at home. He was born on Feb. 6, 1942, in Milwaukee, the son of Harvey and Helen (Sorcic) Oldenburg.
Doug graduated from Custer High School and Milwaukee Area Technical College. He was united in marriage to Mary Simos on Nov. 8, 1963, in Lake Bluff, Ill. He worked as an Electronic Technician for Ricoh USA Inc., retiring in 2009.
Doug was a big DIY (do-it-yourself) guy especially when it came to automobiles. He enjoyed photography, playing golf, and corn hole. He was an avid Wisconsin Badgers sports fan, Packers fan, and loved traveling.
Doug is survived by his wife, Mary Lynn; daughter, Julie Oldenburg; son, David (Bonnie) Oldenburg; granddaughter, Natalie Oldenburg; and sister, Joan (Butch) Wheeler. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Helen.
A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON FITCHBURG FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 2950 Chapel Valley Road, Fitchburg, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
