CROSS PLAINS - Lyle Leverentz, age 62, of Cross Plains, passed away on Monday, Oct. 2, 2023, at UW Hospital and Clinics. He was born on Jan. 2, 1961, in Madison, the son of Lyall and Donna (Lynch) Leverentz.
Lyle graduated from LaFolette High School in 1979. He worked as an architect for over 35 years. He worked at Mead & Hunt, Inc. for 23 years and Power Engineers, Inc. for six years. At the time of his passing, he was employed at Potter Lawson, Inc., where he had been working for the last 6 years. One of Lyle’s biggest accomplishments was being publicly recognized for his design and oversight of construction of the air traffic control tower at Volk Field, Camp Douglas.
Lyle was a devoted father to his two daughters. He lovingly supported his beautiful daughters in all their dreams in life. On Dec. 14, 2012, in Las Vegas, Nev., Lyle married Luanne and welcomed her three daughters into his family. His kindness, generosity, and loyalty were felt by anyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His smile would light up a room and everyone would feel welcomed by his presence.
Lyle worked hard and played hard-he lived life to the fullest. He was a gifted and skilled tiler, learning this talent from his father. He was also an outdoors enthusiast, who enjoyed golfing, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends, especially at his cabin in Ontario, Wis.
He recently started building his dream shed.
Additionally, Lyle enjoyed weekend trips ATVing and motorcycling with his good friend Tom.
He loved live music and was an avid Packers and Badgers sports fan.
Lyle and Luanne enjoyed extensive traveling, especially their trip to Venice and Greece with his siblings. The highlight of his life was becoming a grandpa and spending time with his grandchildren.
Lyle is survived by his wife, Luanne; daughters, Cortney (Brandon McCafferty) Leverentz and Taylor (Jake) Arneson; and grandson, Leo Arneson; stepdaughters, Kayla (Ben Hacker) Roessler, Melissa (Jayden) Johnson and Allison (Anthony) Brandt; step grandchildren, Everly Hacker, Mason Johnson, Brooks and Blake Brandt; and siblings, Jeanne (Ted) Mork, Jaynne Leverentz and Joanne (Thomas) Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyall and Donna.
Lyle’s generosity towards others continues beyond his life on earth. In his final act he gave the gift of life through organ and tissue donation. The family would like to thank all the medical staff and those who helped in this time of need.
A celebration of life will be held at CROSS PLAINS AMERICAN LEGION, 2217 American Legion Drive, Cross Plains, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, 2024.
