Obituary

BLUE MOUNDS- It is with heavy heart that we inform you that heaven opened the doors to our youngest son, Chase. Chase Mathew Irwin, age 39, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2023, at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on June 14, 1984, the son of Rick Irwin and Ann (Frautschy) O'Connell.


Chase’s smile was contagious just like his spirit. He loved his family, his dog, Gunner and his work ethics were like no other.


Chase always loved to have a good time. He cared for everyone in his circle and had an infectious smile and laugh, with a great sense of humor. Chase was a loving and supportive brother. He enjoyed playing sports and following his favorite teams. He enjoyed growing up with all his cousins on the family farm.


Chase is survived by his parents, Ann (Joe) O’Connell and Rick (Joan) Irwin; brother, Shawn; grandmother, Lois O’Connell; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Leland and Gladys Frautschy and Mort (Sarah) Irwin.


A funeral service will be held at IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 310 W. Main St., Mount Horeb, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023, with Pastor Jared Parmley. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.

Chase was completely reliable and an absolute key reason that our Big Blue Swim School at Pineville is right on schedule. His attention to details and caring about his work were appreciated and needed. On behalf of S.E. I had the privilege of working with Chase for many years. He was not only one of the hardest working, most determined Superintendant but also someone you would want to knock stuff over to be able to work with him. He will be missed.
