Obituary

MADISON - Mary E. Doyle (nee Ebner), age 93, of Madison, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg, Wis., with her family by her side. Mary was born on Nov. 30, 1929, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Henry and Maria (Hammer) Ebner.

Mary graduated from St. Augustine High School in Chicago, Ill., and married Thomas J. Doyle on June 21, 1952. She worked as a legal secretary for many years before retiring and moving to Madison to be closer to family, and help care for her grandchildren.

Over the years Mary volunteered at Agrace Hospice gift shop, as well as the churches that she attended. Mary took such joy in her grandchildren, and rarely missed a sporting event, dance recital or the opportunity to spend time with them at home. She loved reading mysteries, online shopping, a good Old Fashioned, as well as making every holiday special with her elaborate displays and decorations.

Recently, Mary moved into All Saints Assisted Living where she made wonderful new friends, and enjoyed her weekly salon visits, morning exercise class, and showing off her Bernese Mountain dog, Angus, to all her neighbors.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Cathy Doyle-Heffernan (Jim Heffernan), Linda Doyle and Colleen Sawyers; and son, Tom Doyle. She was the beloved grandmother of Eric (Autumn) Sawyers, Connor Sawyers, Samantha Sawyers, Alex (Miranda) Glebs, Aaron (Nichole) Curry and Rebecca (DJ) Valance; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Private services will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare and All Saints Assisted Living. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
