Doris B Knaack

Mrs Knaack was my 5th grade teacher at Herbert Schenk Elementary School in 61 - 62. She was an excellent teacher. Funny how I remember this after 60 plus years! Seems she had a great life! My condolences. I still have my report card! Mary Korn Erickson

I first met Doris when invited to facilitate futures planning shortly after she and Gordon purchased a home for Larry, then crossed paths intermittently for years ( often in the grocery store checkout line). As administrator of Dane County’s adult DD services for about a decade, I appreciated her love of family, and sustained advocacy for integrated employment, self determination and community inclusion. She held people to appropriately high standards and firmly let us know when we did not live up to them. I always looked forward to an August phone call from Doris to verify statistics in advance of her annual, we’ll prepared testimony at the County’s budget hearing. She was always warm hearted and kind, making sure to ask how my family and I were doing. Our community was richer for Doris presence. My heartfelt condolences to her family and all who loved her. ~Monica Bear

Steve - so sorry to hear about your mother's passing. The obit is very well done and I enjoyed reading about her. 101 - what an accomplishment. She certainly knew how to live right. Hope all is well otherwise, and my condolences to you and yours.
