FITCHBURG - Alan “Al” Newell, age 77, of Fitchburg, died on Monday, Sept. 4, 2023. He was born on Dec. 15, 1945, in DeForest, the son of Clare and Luella (Harvey) Newell.
Al graduated from DeForest High School in 1964 and earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from the UW-Madison in 1969. He was united in marriage to Sarah “Sally” Ellis on Aug. 5, 1972.
Al worked for Certco until his retirement. Later in life, Al and Sally enjoyed traveling to Florida and other destinations.
Al is survived by his daughter, Ava (Ken Bear) Newell; sisters-in-law, Liz Newell, Sandi Newell and Susan (John) Miller; brother-in-law, Tom (Gayle) Ellis; and nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sally; son, Alex; brothers, Kent Newell and Mark Newell; nieces, Shawn Langwell and Michelle Miller; and nephew, Jon Ellis.
A private family burial will be held.
