Edward filled a lot of roles in the year that we knew him - resident artist at Oakwood, fitness classmate, crusher of trivia, balcony conversationalist while soaking up the sun and most of all, friend. We are so lucky our paths crossed with this special man. Condolences to his loved ones.

Ed and I were often in contact as pastors in the Wisconsin United Methodist Conference. We shared many common matters including both being pastors at different times for the Kenosha Wesley Church. As his District Superintendent for several years in Milwaukee we sought together care and development for many of God's people. I valued the learned ways Ed presented his faith and life without failure to articulate his convictions in often troubled times. I regret my inability to attend the memorial service because of family medical matters. -Donald A. Ott

Before and after retirement Ed continued to minister to our ID-Madison faith community, serving LGBTQ Christians and friends in a space more open and welcoming than mainstream church services. He and later Lorraine too would join us a few times a year when we invited him to preside for our liturgy and dinner afterward. Kind is the word for Ed! He served us in our need and we will miss him.
