LOMIRA - Kay M. Svoboda, age 76, of Lomira, Wis., passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2023, at St. Agnes Hospital and Care Center in Fond du Lac, Wis. She was born on July 21, 1947, in Racine, and was the daughter of August and Bernice Machtoka.
Kay was united in marriage to James Svoboda II on Aug. 20, 1989, until July 2010. Kay worked as a purchasing agent for USDA Forest Products Laboratory for 35 years, retiring in 2002.
Kay loved her family and close circle of friends and spending time with them. She enjoyed crafting, baking, scrap booking and being by the water, which included boating.
Kay is survived by her stepdaughters, Jody (David) Rhodes and Jamie Lemmons; stepson, James (Valerie) Svoboda III; grandchildren, Eleanor, Samantha, Kendal, Dylan, Jackson and Hannah; nephews, Dan (Tabitha) Machotka and Bryan (Chelsea) Machotka; great-nieces, Madelyn and Mayve; special friends, Jim, Sue and Becki; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dick Machotka; and former husband, James Svoboda II.
A memorial service to celebrate Kay’s life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2023. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Sunday. A celebration of Miss Kay’s life will follow the service at THE GREEN LANTERN, 4412 Siggelkow Road, McFarland, from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. All are welcome to join us.
