Obituary

VERONA - David Paul Montgomery, age 73, of Verona, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023, at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on Oct. 29, 1949, in Louisville, Ky., the son of Baines and Mary (Vaughn) Montgomery.


David graduated from Madison East High School. He married Lynn Sura on April 24, 1971, in Madison. David worked as an insurance agent for over 50 years, owning his insurance agency, Independent Insurance Services Inc. He merged with Baer Insurance Company.


David loved history and enjoyed playing games, with Bridge being his favorite. He loved traveling all over the world.


David is survived by his wife, Lynn; sons, Geoffery Montgomery and James (Kristi) Montgomery; grandchildren, Cameron Montgomery and Madelyn Montgomery; brother, John (Mary Giemza) Montgomery; sister, Frances (Scott) Petersen; and sister-in-law, Carrie Montgomery. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Robert Montgomery.

 

A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton, at 12 noon on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023. A luncheon will follow at REX’S INNKEEPER, 301 N. Century Ave., Waunakee. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday.  A private interment will take place at Natural Path Sanctuary on Friday.
