Obituary

DEERFIELD - Bonnie Mae (Keller) Ruck, age 74, passed away after several years of courageously struggling with various ailments attacking her mind and body.  She was surrounded by her children on Monday, Aug. 14, 2023, at the UW hospital’s intensive care unit. The faith she had gave her courage and allowed her to face each day during this hard time. She inspired us all as we journeyed together until she went home to heaven.

Bonnie was born on Sept. 27, 1948, in Richland Center, the daughter of William and Frances “Kriss” Keller. She graduated from Madison East High School in 1966. Bonnie loved to dance and enjoyed music (especially the Beatles). Bonnie had many life-long friends and enjoyed meeting new people all her life. She enjoyed motorcycling and traveling to new places with her husband, John. Their travels took them to 28 states and three Canadian provinces.  She enjoyed the beauty and natural blessings they saw with life-long friends on those travels. One special trip visiting their missionaries in Argentina was especially meaningful and provided many spiritual insights.

Bonnie married her high school sweetheart, John N. Ruck, in June 1967 and celebrated 56 years of marriage in June 2023. They made their home in Madison where they raised three children, Darin (Melissa), Kelly and David (Rocio). She and John were blessed by and enjoyed their grandchildren, David (Mari), Derek, Nick, Justin, Ashlyn, Maeci, the twins, Adleigh and Ayden, JJ and Alex, and three great-grandchildren, Soren, Arlo and newborn Dawson.

Bonnie’s life calling was to be a mom and grandma to the family she loved.  She served in various jobs at the church she loved as well.  She worked in the kitchen serving daycare and ALCS students, and receptionist for the daycare, school and church. She enjoyed working with accounts payable in the business office before retiring.  A people-person, she blossomed being around people from youngest to oldest; she enjoyed them all.

Bonnie will be forever missed by her sister, Linda Beaudette and her husband and family. We are mourning the loss of Bonnie but rejoicing in the promised reunion coming for believers in Christ.

Bonnie’s family is grateful for the many helpers that came to care for and support Bonnie. Renee Gibs and her team at Agape Senior Services went above and beyond, praying, adjusting schedules and many different staff members served Bonnie’s needs allowing her to stay home as long as possible.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, three children, ten grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Kriss Keller; sister, Sharen; and brothers-in-law, Derald Smedegard and Bob Beaudette.

A memorial service will be held at CITY CHURCH, 4909 E. Buckeye Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 25, 2023. Visitation with family will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.

Bonnie (aka: Bino) was not just my sister, she was my friend. No one is closer in blood than a sibling. Bonnie was proud of her Keller-Blase heritage. Bon & I shared childhood memories, laughed, played, cried, kept secrets, danced, sang and shopped. We redecorated, lunched and loved each others kids as if they were our own. Bonnie was kind, loving, thoughtful, honest and understanding. She was humble & had a great sense of humor. She was a long time believer in her Savior and therefore planted seed in me, so I would become a believer as well. She Never wavered in her faith, even through the hard times. She has now obtained a well-deserved glorified body. Bonnie always held my hand as a little girl, defending me, including me and loving me. Everyone that knew my sister saw her as a super mom, wife, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. My sincere condolences to her family and loved ones. I am happy for her now but, I miss her, and will, until I see her again. ✝️

Bonnie & Bob Beaudette: They were closer than many brothers & sisters. Bob was 12 and Bonnie was 13 when they met. They had many similarities; taste in foods, sense of humor, even tempered, great faith, even having the same Initials in reverse order (BMR - RMB) along with many of the same health concerns. They both went home to be with the Lord, the same year. If Bob could write his summary of her, it would be that he loved her & she was the Best ever.

I was blessed to have had a great mom who was also known as “Mom” to so many of my friends and the kids at school! She was there to listen and show compassion and understanding! Also gave lots of hugs to anyone who needed one! Her smile was very contagious and she shared those daily!! I was blessed by having one on one time with her going to ceramics - laughing our butts off quietly and hysterically on our rides home!! We had our Olive Garden dates, even our Only secret she made me keep! It’s very funny! We had time just sitting in the living room on Dolores Dr. talking, laughing or crying over situations going on. She loved when my kids and I would go up to the cabin and spend time with her and Dad - Papa. She loved spending time with her family!!! That was her love language! When the grandkids were born she was there for each one of mine!! She even cut the cord for Maeci! She lit up any time the kids came over to see her or when we could do FaceTime with her!! Funny thing was during her last few years my brothers and I stayed and helped take care of her and help dad, but she kept asking my brothers and I to stay and MOVE back back in! She had the sweetest, kindest heart. She would send Birthday, Anniversary, Sympathy, or just thinking of you cards to anyone who needed a kind word, a scripture or just a feeling of love from her!! She loved being with her sisters and parents, nephews, cousins, husband, kids, grandkids, great grandchildren, friends from high school Linda Smith, LCC Riders, the Jensen, the Fabics, and everyone that was kind to her!!! Too many names to mention! So many years so many memories and very honored to have been apart of her life! I will always remember how much love she had for her sister Linda and (my Uncle)Bob!! They were so silly together!! The stories, the songs, the UT language we kids had to figure out! There love for music, dancing together, singing, sitting in the same rows at church or just behind each other, the love for Jesus and sharing it with friends and family, living so close for years!! That was a special love that could not be taken away!! She was there for my dad in so many ways as a supportive wife friend and pastors wife! She went over each message he would give and did her grammar corrections- she loved going on the motorcycle rides with my dad. That gave them an opportunity to spend quality time together and with others!! She went on mission trips with him!! They did Bible studies in our home- they helped us kids during AWANA and then Sun light! Mom and dad attended school functions..they stayed together through thick and thin and held each others hand through it all! I miss her very much, but I’m thrilled she is no longer in pain or suffering and has a new body and is really living!! Love and miss you always Mum!! Your Kude
