Hello Mary and Family! Bob was one wonderful fellow! Kay and I are very glad we had both of you as friends! Bob and I carpooled to the WI DOT for a number of years. He was fearless -- we would drive in my little MG B in winter and summer. If I remember correctly I think he would kid me about maybe buying a car that was a bit smaller!! The two of us could hardly fit in the car when we had winter jackets and all on. I was stunned to see his "little fire" department collection. And I thought all my old cars were too many at least that is what Kay would periodically suggest. One day coming home from the DOT in the dark on Hwy. 138 all of a sudden I saw a flash into the headlights from the left and a very large deer shot across the road in front of us and disappeared out of the lights. I exclaimed with some choice words. The deer was so close to the front end of the car that I did not even have time to take my foot of the gas! I said to Bob did you see that? I think he said, "What?" I said that deer went across the front of us and all I could see in the headlights was the hoofs and the lower part of the legs. I am sure Bob thought "Oh, I am so glad I am ridding in Davis' MG. We will be lucky to get home alive!" But we always had a good time talking and a bit of kidding even if both of us could hardly get out of that little car once I stopped it. He was a great fellow I think and I am sure all will miss him!
