Life is not always fair. We worked may years together at Axley Law firm. Clients liked and respected her. We also did numerous not for profit fund raiser together such as By Women for Women-golf outing to raise funds for cancer. She was a very special person and excellent Atty. She became ill early in her life but fought hard to do things, and live a life (no one would ever know her sickness and trips to Mayo for care); running, not for profit board member and mentoring other Attys. Always willing help. She loved her sister's family and always willing to travel. She will never be forgotten. Atty John Mitby

I was a partner at Axley when Melissa joined the firm. Melissa was a wonderful attorney and person. I enjoyed working with her, and I, and a number of my family members and friends, became her clients. I am so sorry for your loss.

Melissa was so very helpful to our organization, AgeBetter, especially during our first 10 years through her work with Attorney John Mitby. We were so fortunate to know her-- always helpful and such warm and genuinely kind person. She became a wonderful resource as a professional services member for our older adult membership and provided some excellent presentations. We will always remember her.
