Richard A. Roloff

MADISON - Richard Arnold Roloff, age 86, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on Dec. 6, 1936, in Wausau, the son of Arnold and Cecilia Roloff.

Dick graduated from Wausau High School in 1954 and proudly served in the U.S. Army for two years. He was united in marriage to Margaret Skaife on June 22, 1963.

Richard spent his professional career in the insurance industry, first in St. Paul, Minn., and then in Madison, retiring from Viking Insurance.

He enjoyed golfing, woodworking, gardening, hunting and fishing. He especially loved doing anything that involved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Dick and Margie spent their early retirement years living at their cabin in central Wisconsin, and were able to travel extensively, before returning to Madison in order to be closer to family.

Richard is survived by his sons, Jim (Julie) Roloff, William (Elizabeth) Roloff, Thomas (Heather) Roloff and Daniel (Michelle) Roloff; daughter-in-law, Ferrial Roloff; seven grandsons, Peter, Ben, Nicholas, Bearach, Price, Danny and Nate; four granddaughters, Grace, Cora, Ashley and Alyssa; and great-grandchildren, Mason and Trace. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; son, David; and grandchildren, Michael Roloff and Elizabeth Roloff.

A celebration of Dick’s life is being planned for later in the summer.
