Obituary

MADISON- Kierstan Jeanne Rickey, age 45, of Madison, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023, after suffering from MS for several years. She was born on Dec. 13, 1977, in Madison, the daughter of Alan and Susan (Hable) Rickey.


Kierstan graduated from Beaver Dam Wayland Academy in 1995. After graduating from UW Madison with a degree in Sociology. Kierstan worked as a Disability Specialist for State of Wisconsin. She was a very intelligent and sensitive woman with a deep love for her family and animals. Kierstan enjoyed decorating her home and conversing about politics.


Kierstan is survived by her father, Alan Rickey; grandmother, Carol Rickey; four uncles, Steve (Susan) Hable, Michael (Bobbi) Rickey, John Rickey and Robert Hable; two aunts, Barbara (T.J.) Harkness and Ellen Rickey; and many cousins, other relatives and friends.


She was preceded in death by mother, Susan J. Rickey; aunt, Patty (John Jordan) Rickey; maternal grandparents, Larry and Ruth Hable; and paternal grandfather, Vilas Rickey.

I remember going to Kiersties UW graduation party at their apartment or duplex. That was so long ago but lots of fun. Sue always tried to do her best for her daughter. It’s hard to believe that they are both gone now. You have my heart. Nanc Dinga❤️❤️❤️. I moved up north 5 years ago now and sure missed those 2 wonderful gals

She was my high school best friend and maid of honor in my wedding. This is just all too sad. I’ve been very sad since the moment I found out of her passing. I still can’t believe it. My prayers go out to her family.

I was just thinking about her and decided to Google her, and I found this obit. 😢 She was my best friend in elementary school. We lived in the meadows apartments as kids and our moms (both Sue) were our Girl Scout troop leaders together. I remember making splatter paint t-shirts together and arguing over Debbie Gibson vs. Tiffany. It’s sad to learn about her passing and the passing of her mom. My heart goes out to all the family and friends. Life is too short. ❤️
