Obituary
OREGON - Barbara Peterson passed peacefully into the arms our Lord on May 7, 2023. Born on June 14, 1934, in Joliet, Ill., she was the youngest daughter of Edwin and Ethel Frobish.
Barbara graduated from Joliet High School in 1952. She met the love of her life, Jerry Peterson, at the roller rink and they skated and danced their way to more than 60 years of marriage which included four children, 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Barbara loved poetry, gardening, Christian music, feeding Buddy the Squirrel, travel, and most of all she loved and lived for her family. She never missed recitals, softball games, volleyball games, baseball games, and any other activity that her kids and grandkids were involved in.
Barbara will be remembered for her strong faith, radiant smile, and unconditional love for all who knew her.
Her cherished husband, Jerry, preceded her into eternity in 2014. She is survived by her children, Mark (Cindy) Peterson, Karen Larson, Kim (Ray) Doyle and Mitch (Jill) Peterson; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her dear friend, Dorothy Mescher. Barbara had amazing people in her life and was grateful for her Angels next door, Jeff and Dana; and friends, Louise, Lynn and Carlie who all helped her to maintain her independence and live in her home until she passed.
A memorial service will be held at ST. JOHN’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 625 E. Netherwood St., Oregon, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2023. Burial will follow at Town of Dunn Burying Ground. A luncheon will be served at the church following the burial. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
Barbara requested no live flowers. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Lutherdale Bible Camp in Elkhorn, Wis., and Columbia County Humane Society where Barbara found her best friend, Bentley the wonder dog. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
