Obituary
MADISON - Helen Josephine Badowski left the UW Hospital to be with her Lord on Monday, May 15, 2023. She was born on June 22, 1952, and raised in Rockford, Ill.
Helen was one of six children. Her brothers, Adam, Edward and John are now deceased. Her two sisters, Barbara Kappen and Regina Gerring still reside in Rockford along with many loved nephews and nieces. Helen relocated to Madison accepting the position of accountant at Gardner Baking Company. This did not hinder her from returning to Rockford for family get-togethers and celebrations.
Even though Helen had many medical issues, she took great comfort in knowing that she belonged to her faithful Savior, Jesus Christ … not only her body and soul, but in life or in death. Her faith was always in action. She had humility, honesty, hospitality and a keen focus on how to be useful and helpful to others. She was always eager to offer: ‘Can I help?’
Helen had a great love and devotion for her two precious cats and companions ‘Charlie’ and ‘Andy’. Much love flowed in and through these two beloved creatures.
Helen’s heart and time were not only in Bible study in search of knowing more of her Lord, but she actively used her skills of sewing and crocheting to serve others in a most caring way. She actively furnished lovely homemade items to RSVP. They were prepared with much love and perfection. Additionally, she made over 100 masks to donate during COVID. Helen also had volunteered at Boomerang’s Thrift Store and was a great welcoming hostess for the weekly Bible Study Class.
Some comments that friends have said about Helen are: “she was very caring, kind, thoughtful, compassionate. Her soft voice was accented with a sweet smile. She was a great gift to us. … plus she made great carrot cake!”
Helen’s life on earth has passed, but her life in the Lord’s presence has just begun. She feels right at home!
A memorial service will be held at DOOR CREEK CHURCH-Sprecher Road Campus, 6602 Dominion Drive, Madison, at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2023.
