Obituary

MADISON - Gerald Wilfred Andrle, age 72, of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at UW Health East Madison Hospital. He was born on Nov. 2, 1950, in River Falls, the son of Wilfred and Leona (Johnson) Andrle.

Gerald graduated from Bloomer (WI) High School in 1968. He received a B.S. degree in chemistry from UW-Madison. Gerald owned and operated G.W. Andrle Construction. He believed in quality construction with his many remodelings, home additions and garages. He appreciated listening to music, playing his guitars and piano, drawing and painting. Gerald was known to swim in Lake Monona from B.B. Clarke Beach even when the water was colder.

Gerald is survived by his siblings, Darlene, Charlene, Katherine, Pauline and William; friends, Larry (Myrna) Grunert, Miguel Angel Rodriguez, Richard Grunert, Michael Rewey and Rose Messina; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred and Leona; and Toby, his cat.

A committal service will be held at RESURRECTION CEMETERY, 2705 Regent St., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2023.

I met Gerry living on the bottom floor apartment of the old Victorian home on Spaight street on Lake Monona during my residency at UW. Having our first child during my Chief year was a challenge for both my wife and I . We lived above him and his kindness and willingness to help became a part of our daily lives. He soon became known as Uncle Buck and immediately became part of our family . We later traveled to the Carribean and Europe , sailed the Bahamas and spent many holidays together. Rest in peace my good friend. You will be missed greatly . Best Rick
