I knew Nettie back when we both lived in the "hood" -- both during the time she lived on Division and Sommers and I lived on Dunning. Nettie was a sweet, kind soul. She was funny and whimsical and made me laugh often. But she was also incredibly sensitive to the needs of others. During a time I was going through some rough times, Nettie was there to support me every step of the way. One fond memory is me taking her for rides on the back of my beat up, old Honda motorcycle. Those were the days! Fly with the angles, my friend. You earned those wings.

Nettie was a true joy to know. She lived her life; really lived it, through her care of people, animals, trees, plants, flowers, earth. She had an immense amount of creativity and I loved the bug character she created that was Nettie and others like the bunny that was a close friend. We laughed a lot over silly things and I miss that childlike fun. Esther

I just found out about her passing today. It is a complete shock. She was a beautiful person and was loved more than she ever realized. I will always cherish the memory of her walking barefoot by Lake Superior in Duluth, skipping rocks, and truly, she adored nature, and all creatures. I was proud and blessed to be part of her life, and I know she is with Jesus and the angels in this very moment, experiencing peace and joy immeasurable. Condolences to her friends and family who share this heartbreak and memories of her sweet soul, intelligence, wit, and hiking prowess. She was a rare gem, I will miss her always.

Oh, so sorry to read this. I was stunned to learn of Annette's death. I still am in shock over it. We were friends for a time while she lived in Duluth. We took turns cooking for one another, shared a love of books and animals and took a lot of road trips just for the fun of it. My condolences to Annette's family and friends. I share your sorrow. Rest in peace, Annie Oakley!
