Kathleen Ann White

MADISON - Kathleen Ann White, age 75, passed away on April 21, 2023. She was born on July 7, 1947, in Milwaukee, Wis., the daughter of William Stein and Willabell Lange. She married Ronald White in 1974 and moved to Ann Arbor, Mich., where she had her two sons, Alexander and Phillip.

Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Bloomfield, Conn.; after seven years, the family moved again to Langhorne, Penn., The family lived in Pennsylvania for almost 30 years. When her children were young, she was able to stay home and raise her sons. She then returned to her career as a social worker. In 1989, she began working for the American Red Cross Homeless Family Shelter in Levittown, Penn. She retired in 2004.

Later in life, she found her true calling when she began as a volunteer for the National Park Service at Independence National Historical Park in Philadelphia. She worked as an Interpretive Volunteer doing tours of Independence Hall and the other buildings on Independence Square for almost 15 years.

She left Penn., to follow her son and his wife, Ashley Hanson White, and her other son Phillip, back to Wisconsin, this time to Madison. She was the proud grandmother of two boys, William Alexander, age eight, and George Osborn, age six.

She retired completely with the move to Madison, leaving many wonderful friends behind in Penn., but reconnecting with family in Wisconsin, and making new friends.

Kathleen is survived by her sons, Alexander (Ashley) White and Phillip White; grandsons, William and George White. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A celebration of life will be held at GUNDERSON FUNERAL HOME FITCHBURG, 2950 Chapel Valley Road, Fitchburg, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 28, 2023.

In lieu of flowers, she requests donations to the National Park Foundation, the organization which supports the National Park Service (www.nationalpark.org).
