Obituary
MERRIMAC - Neil P. Hoernke, age 77, passed away after an extended illness on April 17, 2023. He was the son of Harvey and Catherine (Ripp) Hoernke in Madison, Wis.
Neil graduated from Edgewood High School, and later from UW-Platteville with a degree in Economics and Political Science.
Neil owned Middleton Insulation for more than 30 years, and coached youth football for Middleton for 13 years. He was very proud of designing buildings around the country. Neil was a licensed real estate broker. He lived in Middleton and talked a lot about his old neighborhood friends there. Neil was a very social and happy man. He enjoyed his lake home on Lake Wisconsin, water skiing and boating, camping in his RV with his “significant only,” Sharon, and sharing good times with friends and family, especially Sharon’s large family. Neil proudly talked about his sons and their accomplishments.
Neil is survived by his best friend and significant other, Sharon Shroeder; his children, Marc Hoernke and Nick (Christine) Hoernke; grandchildren, Jamie (Justin), Noah, Grace, Emma, and Josephine; great-grandsons, Jaylen and Jax; Sharon’s children, Rhonda (Jonathon) and Jessica, and her grandchildren, Christian and Andrew; siblings, Kathy Peters, Karen (Jeff) Helm, and Dan (Mary) Krecklow; neices and nephews, Brian, Jason, Tania, Daniel, Jackie, Karly, and Cole. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Craig Hoernke; and mother of his three sons, Janice Hoernke.
A big thank you to Joshua Lang and Meghan Wells at the UW Carbone Cancer Center for giving Neil a long life.
A celebration of Neil’s life will held at a later date.
