Obituary

MADISON - Lucious James Griffin transitioned on April 7, 2023, suddenly and unexpectedly. He was born on Jan. 23, 1974, the Son of Lillie B. Riley and Lucious James Street.

Lucious was a joy and light, his laughter and smile warmed the heart of anyone he was around. Lucious was deeply poetic and even was an author, publishing his book titled, Living Light. He loved nature and was always taking an opportunity to capture pictures of earth's beauty. He was very brilliant and optimistic.

Lucious was a kid at heart and loved playing and spending time with his grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He was an amazing cook and could turn the simplest foods into a mouthwatering delight. He also had a green thumb, the ability to nurse plants and make them flourish. Lucious was deeply spiritual and loved to learn about the unknown and mysterious things about the world.

He loved whiskey, talking and entertaining, medium cooked steak, Despicable Me, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and mint chocolate chip ice cream.

Lucious is survived by the love of his mother, Lillie; his children, Andjuleek, Domonique, Daijah and Lucious Jr.; his grandchildren; his big brother, Brian; and his baby sister, Jewell; and a host of family members, colleagues and friends.

A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2023. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.

We grew up on the block together, seven deuce and I remember not too long ago he inboxed me and he had a dream he was telling me about and it was my mom and my brother, Batman and how they were proud of me. Man, now my friend is gone. God bless the Griffin family from the bottom of my heart. He was cool like an air conditioner and his brother, Bryant...the whole family was good and I remember Mr Shadd every year at fireworks block party, Great America.
