Obituary

COLUMBUS - Joshua Clark LeMoine, age 38, of Columbus, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2023. He was born on Nov. 23, 1984, in Hamilton, Ohio, the son of Steven and Karen (Darby) LeMoine.

Joshua graduated from Cincinnati Christian High School in 2003 and The Ohio State University in 2010.  He worked in IT Security for Cardinal Health for the past five years.

Josh was a talented graphic design artist and loved to draw. He enjoyed playing video games, listening to, and playing music.  As a hobby, he was an avid collector of Star Wars models, Legos kits, and sneakers. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. He had a big heart and always found ways to make everyone smile and laugh.  There is nothing he would not do for his friends and family. We are also grateful to Josh’s girlfriend, Danielle, who has brought him joy and hope these past few months.

Joshua is survived by his parents, Steven (Sarabeth) LeMoine and Karen LeMoine; aunts, Sharon (Dave) Hewitt and Diane (Wayne Newbury) Cazier; uncle, Kurt Dwayne (Donna) Darby; and several cousins who have been a large part of his life. He was preceded in death by his uncle, Kent Darby; paternal grandparents, Virgil and Evelyn LeMoine; and maternal grandparents, Cecil and Georgia Darby.

Though I only had the pleasure of knowing Josh for a short amount of time, I can tell you from that small glimpse that he was truly an amazing human. He was a very sweet and caring person, often putting the needs of others before his own (unless it had to do with Mexican suckers 😄). I say this because one memory of Josh I will never forget is watching him hand his girlfriend Danielle, what they called a “Mexican sucker” and ask her to “get it ready” for him. I proceeded to watch Danielle lick off the outer layer of this sucker, (which is apparently spicy at first and then turns sweet ) then hand it back to Josh and he popped it right in his mouth! Lol.. I had never been so disgusted yet jealous at the same time. Josh truly will be missed by many, and I hope he knows how many lives out there are better just for knowing him.

One of the memories I have of Josh is him and Danielle being the only people that are old enough to be my parents and playing video games with me all the time. We had the time of our lives. It felt like I knew him my whole life. Through Josh and Danielle I saw how wonderful life can be with Love and friendship. I will always miss him.

The first day I met Josh we became instant friends. It felt like I had known him for a long time. Josh, Danielle, Owen and myself were the spades team. We were quite the foursome. Josh was my spades partner. He quickly learned that I would always under bid my hand. He would always add on one or two more bids and we usually made our books or didn't go over by much. Unbeknownst to Owen and Danielle, Josh would give me signals during the game. A small head shake yes or no or a wink with his right eye to let me know we were doing well in that hand. I could always count on Josh to have fun with. Whether it was playing spades, pool, cards against humanity, laughing together or just relaxing by the fire at night. Josh also taught me how a man should respect and treat a woman. He always treated me with respect and I knew that he truly cared about me. He gave me a big hug with a smile on his face every time I saw him. It was very refreshing to meet a man who was open, honest, caring, loving, compassionate and loyal. I knew that I could talk to him about anything. He would listen with compassion, give advice and always have my back. No matter what kind of mood I was in or what I was talking about he would tell me that I'm perfect and to never change. I've never had anyone say that to me before. It made me feel really loved and cared for. I truly enjoyed every moment that I spent with Josh. The last text he sent me said "I love you Sara". The love of our friendship is definitely mutual. The love that I have for Josh will always remain in my heart. Love always, Sara

Josh, first of all, I miss you. I am so thankful that I got to spend so much time with you these last months. You showed me what true friendship looks like. I knew I liked you the first day I met you. I looked up to you and learned a lot from you. I’m glad I got to meet you and know you like a brother. I am so glad I watched you become the man you so desperately fought to be. The man that Danielle and I fell in love with.I’m so grateful I got to share a part of your journey in life together. I’ll never be able to see a bag of suckers again without thinking about you. So much reminds me of you and I get tiny reminders of you throughout the day. Rest easy brother. I love you.
