I'm so sorry to hear of Mike's passing and send heartfelt condolences to his family. I worked with Mike at Unemployment Insurance and always enjoyed that smile and sense of humor. He was patient with the then new lawyer who had so much to learn. He was always a kind and gentle presence. The world is a lesser place without him.

I occasionally had lunch with Mike years ago at the Argus Tavern in uptown Madison. I was his insurance agent, and a best friend of his younger brother, Steve. We had a few laughs together over lunch, with our similar dark humor. Mark Quinn

I worked with Mike at Unemployment Insurance for about 22 years. He was a helpful and patient colleague, willing to share generously his knowledge and expertise. He had a professional and yet relaxed demeanor during appeal hearings. I so appreciated his approach to the responsibilities of his position; it was clear that his efforts were to assure the law was correctly applied to the facts and that the participants in the hearings were dealt with fairly. I have missed working with him. He was a great guy.

I had the privilege of working with Mike in the Unemployment Insurance Division. I sometimes sought his legal knowledge related to employers I was trying to help. He was always willing to help when I showed up at his office, often unannounced. It should be noted that he was truly a public servant! May he be blessed with the eternal reward he deserves!
